Longform didjeridu playing is a true meditation Practice. All the challenges and pitfalls of a meditation practice come up. The mind constantly wandering around... thoughts and emotions passing through... physical discomforts of the body... All the mundane and inspired aspects of our being are to be found, observed, and acknowledged.

In order to keep myself coming back to the practice, I've always incorporated the idea a Mala into the didjeridu meditation practice. The Mala is a string of beads found in many spiritual practices, most notably in the east, and generally incorporating 108 beads. Each bead represents a mantra or a breath within the spiritual practice. This gives the mind something to focus on and to come back to as it wanders within the practice.

In didjeridu meditation I count each inhale as a bead. And this particular evening I completed 11 malas which ended up being just at an hour.

Perhaps listen to this recording while drifting off to sleep, as part of a seated meditation practice, while receiving a massage, etc. I hope this recording will help to support your practice.
